Our Summer Special Events Schedule is Here!

Tip of the Month

Take Apart Paddles Last Longer
If you rinse the ends of your take apart paddles you can keep them performing for a lifetime. Grit and sand get into the connection and wear down the shaft much like sand paper. Salty water corrodes the metal clips. Rinse your ends in fresh water after every use. Avoid tossing your paddle down in the sand to help keep sand out of the connection. You and your paddle should enjoy a long and happy life together on the water.

OUR LOCATION: Humboldt Kayak Humboats Hum Boats

We are based in Orick, California, the southern gateway to Redwood National and State Parks, northern gateway to Humboldt Lagoons State Park and the home of the world’s tallest trees. Orick is located 50 minutes north of Eureka and 45 minutes south of Crescent City on the Northern California Coast. The town was named for the native Yurok word for the sound the frogs make. In fact, at night in the spring the frogs sing so loud we have to close the windows to hear each other! Frogs and salamanders live and play on the water and so do we. In fact, that’s why our logo is a salamander. Our area is rich in kayaking resources. With a driving time of five minutes to one hour you can reach three picturesque lagoons, several great surf beaches, open ocean, rock gardens, protected harbors, mellow river runs, and unbelievable whitewater! WHY GO KAYAKING ? Redwood Coast kayak North Coast kayak adventures

Kayaking is a wonderful sport in so many ways because it allows us to dance on water even if we aren’t even able to walk on land! You can use all your muscle groups without the threat of high-impact activity. You can experience nature and wildlife closer than you can on land. You can take it as easy or aerobic and adrenaline-filled as you choose. You can even camp out of or fish from your kayak! And—as Kayak Zak says, “More fun is more good!”
