REQUEST FOR SPONSORSHIP
Be a part of the Humboldt Honeys Cardboard Kayak World Adventure. The Humboldt Honeys are a three-woman cardboard building and racing team with a history of success and a reputation for fearless mastery of our craft while practicing good sportsmanship (We didn’t actually capsize those two little girls in that double). It is our quest to follow in the footsteps of many great kayaking explorers who have gone before us to make history. John Bowermaster, Scott Lindgren, all those English guys, Shawna Franklin , Leon Somé, Justine Curgenven, and Stef Dutton. We too (three!) have excellence, guts, and vision. You can be a part of this vision in our effort to be the best in our field: THE CARDBOARD KAYAK RACE TEAM.

EVENT
To further the sport, and bring worldwide attention to cardboard kayak racing, the Humboldt Honeys are beginning their world tour by competing to win this year’s West Coast Sea Kayak Symposium Cardboard Kayak Race – a thrilling and treacherous expedition across hundreds of feet of roiling ocean off the coast of Washington State (well, okay it’s really the Puget Sound but it’s coastal waters). After a brief rest, we will continue our race for excellence at HSU’s Humboldt Bay Paddlefest in Eureka, California. To ensure victory in our expedition, in addition to operating expenses, advertising, travel, food, lodging, libation, beefcake roadies, and massage therapy, we will need the following critical gear:
- Three Lincoln Navigators (one for each of us) to reach these remote and desolate locations safely
- Thule racks and kayak cradles for each of the vehicles
- Three matching pink breathable dry suits with relief zippers to survive the conditions
- Matching pink PFDs
- Significant stock holding in Argrov Box Company
- Truckloads of schwag
- Three Carbon fiber paddles (Georgianna likes Greenland style, Marna wants a short, high-angle-shaft blade and Rebecca likes a small bladed touring paddle. Maybe we really need one of everything just to cover our bases.
- Coffee table book published with beautiful photos of our competitions
- DVD and video produced “The Cardboard Kayak”
