Tip of the Month

Must Hike, Must Hydrate
Rumor has it that Thule is announcing a new line of technical backpacks at next month's Outdoor Retailer show. They won't be available to purchase until next spring. So what do you do if you love your Thule Crossover pack and need a new hiking pack? Well, I pulled my MacBook Pro out of the computer pocket and inserted the hydration bag from the generic pack I killed. Then I ran the tubing through the grab loop at the top of the pack and robbed a clip off of a name badge from one of those conventions where they announce these new products. Now it just has to last until spring when the new product line comes out.

Come say hello at the Humboldt Lagoons State Park Visitor Center located right on Highway 101 at Stone Lagoon. We are five miles south of Orick, California, the southern gateway to Redwood National and State Parks, northern gateway to Humboldt Lagoons State Park and the home of the world’s tallest trees. Look for the truck and trailer at Big Lagoon most summer weekends and more.

Our benefit to reopen the Stone Lagoon Campground was a success! Ryan's Cove Primitive Campground is open. Get your permit at Patrick's Point State Park. Further funding will be needed to keep it open. Your tax-deductible donation can be made via PayPal to Explore North Coast.
